telling their story

Today is November 11, a day that Canadians take a moment of silence at 11:00 am to remember those who fought and still fight for our freedom. Lest we forget.

One of the people who fought in WWII was my husband's grandfather. He, like many young men at that time, enlisted without even their own parents knowing!

While serving in England, he met and married Edie. Five days later he was sent to Italy. At the time, they had no idea when or if they would see each other again.

When the war ended in 1945, Ira returned to his hometown and sent for his new bride. Edie had been patiently waiting for 2 years to see her husband again.

Edie arrived in Canada in August 1946. They started their family and enjoy many happy years together before Ira passed away from cancer. He was only 60 years old. Edie lived an amazing life and only just passed away this year. She was 99 years old. She was an amazing lady, one we all miss very much.

This layout is just a snippet of their early years together. It's an amazing love story that I want my girls to read about.

For this layout I used the new Heritage kit, available at Digital Project Life
